- Google announced the update on Thursday and has begun a global rollout that lets Gemini generate, preview and edit files inside chat without copying text into separate apps.
- Gemini can produce and export a wide range of formats including PDF, DOCX, XLSX, CSV, LaTeX, TXT, RTF and Markdown plus Google-native Docs, Sheets and Slides.
- PDF previewing and editing work on both the web and mobile apps while richer editing for Docs, Sheets, Slides, Markdown and code is currently limited to the web version.
- Access to some file-generation or editing features depends on account type and paid tiers such as eligible Google Workspace plans or Google AI plans like AI Pro and AI Ultra, and availability may vary by region.
- Google demonstrated workflows such as turning uploaded handwritten notes into a polished PDF but official notes do not document a standalone handwriting-to-PDF feature so users should test workflows and verify outputs before using them in production.
