Google Expands AI Travel Tools With Global Flight Deals, Canvas Planning and U.S. Agentic Booking

The update advances Google’s goal of letting AI Mode handle trip planning and transactions through partner integrations.

Overview

  • Flight Deals in Google Flights is rolling out to more than 200 countries and territories with support for over 60 languages after an initial launch in the U.S., Canada and India.
  • AI Mode now uses the Canvas side panel to build trip plans that combine real-time flight and hotel data, Google Maps photos and reviews, and information from across the web.
  • Travel planning with Canvas is available on desktop in the United States for users opted into the AI Mode experiment in Search Labs.
  • Agentic booking, powered by Project Mariner, is expanding in the U.S. so restaurant reservations no longer require Labs enrollment, while event tickets and beauty or wellness appointments remain available to enrolled users.
  • Google says it is working with industry partners to enable direct booking of flights and hotels inside AI Mode in the future, with current partner links spanning platforms such as OpenTable, Resy, Tock, Ticketmaster, StubHub, SeatGeek, Vivid Seats, Booksy, Fresha and Vagaro.
