Google Expands AI Mode to Five New Languages

The move ends six months of English-only access to Google's AI-led search.

Overview

  • AI Mode now supports Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean and Brazilian Portuguese, expanding availability beyond English for the first time.
  • The update follows last month’s English rollout to more than 180 countries after initial launches in the U.S., the U.K. and India.
  • The experience runs on a custom version of Gemini 2.5 with multimodal inputs and advanced reasoning.
  • Early agentic abilities such as finding restaurant reservations remain limited to U.S. AI Ultra subscribers via Labs, with more booking categories planned and pricing at $249.99 per month.
  • AI Mode is accessible via a dedicated tab and search bar button, and a Google DeepMind manager suggested it could become the default soon, as publishers question traffic impacts that Google disputes.
