Overview

  • A new purple Google Vids button now appears in Drive’s video preview to launch files directly in the browser-based editor.
  • Access is rolling out over roughly 15 days to select Google Workspace and Education editions and add‑ons, and it is not available on free Drive accounts.
  • The Vids editor supports quick trims, music, and text or graphic overlays, with Gemini-powered clip generation and avatars reported to have usage limits.
  • Supported files include MP4, QuickTime, OGG, and WebM under 35 minutes and below 4 GB.
  • Edits create a separate Google Vids project that must be saved or exported, and administrators can turn the feature off for their domains.
