Google Commits $40 Billion to Texas AI Data Centers and Energy Supply

Google says this is its largest investment in any state.

  • Three new facilities are planned with one in Armstrong County and two in Haskell County, alongside continued investment in existing Midlothian and Dallas campuses.
  • The Haskell County sites will be built next to a new solar-plus-battery industrial park developed with Interset and TPG Rise Climate.
  • Google reports contracts for more than 6,200 megawatts of new net generation and capacity through PPAs with AES, Enel North America, Interset and X-Elio.
  • Workforce initiatives include training more than 1,700 apprentices in Texas by 2030 through the Google.org AI Opportunity Fund and $7 million in grants for AI in healthcare, energy and education.
  • Environmental commitments include $2.6 million to support up to 1,000 acres of wetlands in the Trinity–San Jacinto Estuary with roughly 300 million gallons of freshwater delivered annually, plus over $2 million for agriculture programs.
