Google Brings NotebookLM Flashcards and Quizzes to iOS and Android, Upgrades Mobile Chat

A server-side rollout extends September’s web features to phones with Gemini-driven gains in quality, context, and memory.

Overview

  • AI-generated flashcards and quizzes are rolling out to NotebookLM’s iOS and Android apps this week via a server-side update, and users should install the latest app version to see them.
  • Flashcard and quiz sets can be tailored by topic, difficulty, number of items, and language, with optional custom prompts and the ability to focus on selected sources.
  • Mobile chat now runs on the latest Gemini models, delivering roughly 50% better quality, a four-times larger context window, and six-times longer conversation memory with sessions that persist.
  • Users can temporarily select or unselect sources in both Chat and the Studio tab so outputs draw only from the materials they choose.
  • ZDNET reports the free tier allows up to 10 flashcard sets per day, and recent mobile additions include Find sources from the web and a redesigned Studio that supports multiple Audio Overviews.
