Overview
- The Pixel Buds companion app version 1.0.981607934 began rolling out in late September and registers Pixel Buds as a connected app inside Gemini.
- Gemini now accepts voice commands to change EQ presets, toggle active noise cancellation, modify touch controls, and enable conversation detection on supported buds.
- When users speak, playback pauses and a Gemini overlay appears with a “Connecting to Pixel Buds” message and a verbal confirmation after settings change.
- Three features promised at the Pixel 11 launch—Dynamic ANC, Pixel Watch sleep sync, and an upgraded Live Translate—are present in the update package but require separate earbud firmware updates to become functional.
- Owners of Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a must enable connected apps in Gemini’s personal intelligence settings to use the new voice controls and will need to await firmware releases for the remaining features.
