Overview

• AI Mode is now available on Android tablets running Google app 16.30 beta, appearing at the top of the Discover feed and via Pixel Launcher or homescreen widgets.
• The tablet implementation mirrors the phone experience—same prompt bar, image upload tools and Google Lens integration—but lacks landscape optimization, causing a stretched layout.
• Google is trialing a revamped mobile search bar in the beta app that places large pill-shaped buttons for AI Mode and Live beneath the search field to boost visibility.
• Access to both the tablet AI Mode rollout and the redesigned search bar remains limited to beta users as Google gathers feedback and fine-tunes the UI.
• The Google app on iPads and other iOS devices continues on an older design and does not yet support AI Mode or the new search bar shortcuts.
