Google is kicking off its smart-home transition by pairing a new Home app with paid tiers that unlock the most advanced AI features.

  • Early adopters report natural-language event summaries, more precise person and vehicle identification, Ask Home video-history queries, and daily Home Brief recaps, though some bugs have surfaced.
  • The redesigned Google Home app is rolling out globally via server-side update, adding Ask Home search/chat for device queries, instant controls, and basic automation help for all users.
