- Google is rolling out the first version of the advanced sideloading flow through the Android Developer Verifier app, with availability varying by device and region.
- The flow forces a one-time 24-hour waiting period after a user enables installs from unverified developers before an app can be installed, a step Google says is meant to cut risky, accidental installs.
- Users must enable the feature in Developer options by turning on “Allow apps from unverified developers,” and they can set the permission temporarily for seven days or leave it on indefinitely.
- ADB-based installs are explicitly not affected and developer options can be turned off after enabling the advanced flow, while verified developers will be able to let users skip the extra steps.
