Overview
- Google started rolling out the address-change feature in Brazil on Friday, June 26, 2026, and availability is gradual so some accounts can change immediately while others will not yet see the option.
- Users can change their @gmail.com username through myaccount.google.com or Gmail settings by picking a new address that must not already be in use.
- After a change the previous @gmail.com becomes an alternate that still receives messages and the account will sign in to linked services like Google Photos and Drive with the new address.
- Google says existing messages and saved data remain intact but urges users to back up data because some app or account settings can reset, and the company will notify users if their account cannot change addresses.
- Policy limits include one address change per 12 months, no ability to delete the new address, and a 12-month restriction on creating another @gmail.com for the same account.
