Google-Backed Survey Finds Android, Led by Pixel, Outperforms iPhone on Scam Blocking

The results reflect self-reported data gathered prior to iOS 26’s new spam filters, including call screening.

Overview

  • A YouGov survey of 5,000 users in the United States, India, and Brazil reported Android owners were 58% more likely than iPhone users to say they received zero scam texts in the prior week.
  • Google said the gap was widest for Pixel users, who were 96% more likely than iPhone owners to report no scam texts during the survey window in July–August 2025.
  • Google attributes the advantage to on‑device AI defenses and services such as verified SMS/RCS, adding that Android blocks over 10 billion spam calls and messages each month.
  • Forbes noted the findings most strongly highlight Pixel’s lead, as Google’s phones get security features and OS updates first, a pace other Android makers such as Samsung may not match.
  • Coverage stressed key limits: the survey was commissioned by Google and predated Apple’s Sept. 15 iOS 26 release with new filtering and call screening, and independent validation such as Leviathan’s Pixel 10 Pro tests remains important.
