Overview
- Google opened pre-orders after its Monday announcement and said the Fitbit Edge will be available in stores on October 27 with a U.S. price of $179.99 and a Stephen Curry edition at $219.99.
- The Edge has a 1.34-inch always-on AMOLED display, built-in GPS, an altimeter, and a slim aluminum case that weighs about 17.7 grams and measures roughly 11.5 mm thick.
- Battery life is rated up to seven days with the always-on display off, a full charge takes about 90 minutes, five minutes of charging adds roughly a day of use, and the device includes a user-replaceable battery.
- Health hardware includes ECG, SpO2, continuous optical heart-rate and skin temperature sensors, and Google’s Health Guardian will track trends like blood pressure and insulin-resistance with more advanced coaching gated behind Google Health Premium.
- Google positions the Edge between the screenless Fitbit Air and the Pixel Watch 5 as a mid-range successor to the Charge line, trading NFC and on-device audio for longer battery, lighter weight and added repairability to encourage use of the Google Health ecosystem.
