Overview
- Google introduced a tap-to-share mode for Quick Share that lets Android users exchange contacts, photos, videos and other files by bringing devices close and tapping them together.
- The feature supports two-way, instant exchanges and works from the system Share Sheet for sending media.
- Google began rolling the update to Pixel 6 and newer phones and said it will arrive soon on Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8.
- The company said it plans to expand support to more Android devices by year-end, making real-world usefulness dependent on broader cross-manufacturer adoption.
- The announcement came with the Pixel 11 launch and positions Pixel’s sharing experience closer to Apple’s NFC-powered NameDrop and AirDrop features without changing stated privacy guarantees.
