Google Adds "Notify When Left Behind" to Find Hub Trackers

The new toggle warns users when a paired Bluetooth tracker is separated from their phone, with a default exception for the saved Home address.

Overview

  • Google began rolling out the "Notify when left behind" option in Find Hub on Nov. 5–6, with 9to5Google and Android Central reporting sightings in the US and Europe.
  • Users can enable the feature per tag in the Find Hub app by opening a tag's settings and turning on "Notify when left behind."
  • The feature currently works with Bluetooth trackers such as Chipolo and the Moto Tag and does not yet appear for other device types like headphones.
  • Google previously added related strings to Play Services that describe Left-Behind Reminders and a new registration flow, and teardowns suggest a Pixel Tag debut on Nov. 11 that could expand support.
  • The change narrows a long-standing gap with Apple's Find My by giving Android users automatic separation alerts that can help prevent leaving wallets, keys, or bags behind and may boost tracker adoption on the Find Hub network.
