Google Adds Live Voice Assistants to Gmail, Docs and Keep

Overview

  • Google began the mobile rollout Thursday of three new voice-driven modes — Gmail Live, Docs Live and Keep Live — that use Gemini Audio to let users speak to apps in real time.
  • Access is limited to paid tiers with Gmail Live on Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra, Docs Live on Pro and Ultra, and Keep Live on Android for Pro and Ultra subscribers.
  • Gmail Live offers conversational search of your inbox with live transcripts and links to source emails while supporting follow-up questions and interruptions.
  • Docs Live turns spoken ideas into structured drafts and can, with permission, pull details from Gmail, Drive, Chat and the web to add context before generating text.
  • The features build on August’s Gemini 3.5 Transcribe and Gemini Live work and raise trade-offs for users because real-time context requires cross-app data access and Google says Workspace business availability will follow.
