Goodwill San Francisco Bay to Close SF Headquarters and Oakland Store in June

Goodwill San Francisco Bay confirmed the permanent closure of its San Francisco headquarters and Oakland by-the-pound store, effective June 7, 2025.
The closures will result in 72 layoffs at the Oakland store and 18 at the San Francisco office, as outlined in a WARN document filed with California officials.
The restructuring aims to transition to larger, more efficient operational spaces and improve the community shopping and donating experience.
The changes follow a 2024 merger with a Phoenix-based Goodwill chapter, which replaced the entire C-suite and made the Bay Area unit a subsidiary of the Arizona chapter.
Employees not affected by the layoffs will retain their current pay and benefits, with laid-off staff eligible to apply for roles at other Goodwill locations.
