Overview
- The derailment occurred around 10:15 a.m. near Kanaroan railway station in Simdega district within the South Eastern Railway’s Ranchi division.
- Ten wagons left the tracks and eight overturned, according to Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Suchi Singh.
- Rail operations were disrupted as several services were diverted, short-terminated or cancelled following the incident.
- The Puri–Hatia Tapasswini Express was turned back at Tati to Rourkela, where buses were arranged to ferry about 1,300 passengers to Hatia.
- Railway officials said the cause has not yet been determined, and the Railway Protection Force and local police are conducting inquiries.
