Good Samaritan Killed in Three-Vehicle I-695 Beltway Crash Near Woodlawn
Investigators suspect impairment, with the crash team working alongside the county prosecutor on a continuing review.

- Faith Tingen Tikum, 28, of Parkville, died at a hospital after stopping to assist a stranded motorist on the Beltway.
- Police say a BMW driven by Mariah Coren Mason-Johnson hit a stopped Toyota in the left lane, pushing it into Tikum’s Honda and striking the two drivers standing outside.
- The disabled Toyota was operated by 23-year-old Pavert Ngeh and had hazard lights on near Security Boulevard just before midnight Thursday on the I-695 outer loop.
- Ngeh and Mason-Johnson were injured and taken to local hospitals, and three lanes were closed for about three and a half hours during the response.
- State police report suspected impairment and an active investigation led by the Maryland State Police Crash Team with the Baltimore County state’s attorney’s office; no charges have been announced.
