Overview
- A 42-year-old man was thrown from the Goliath hypercoaster and died in the incident that occurred on Oct. 12, and several other riders, including four children, were treated for injuries.
- Six Flags Over Georgia reopened for Fright Fest but kept Goliath secured and out of service while the Georgia Office of the Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire leads an active technical investigation with local police assisting.
- Six Flags paused multiple similar Bolliger & Mabillard-designed coasters at other parks as a precaution, and some additional attractions at the Georgia park were reported closed for checks or documentation reviews.
- Cedar Point separately took Millennium Force out of service after a metal bracket fell from a train into a guest area and returned it to operation only after maintenance inspections and safety checks.
- Official records show Goliath passed a March 16, 2026 state inspection with no violations but internal maintenance notes earlier in the year flagged parts such as bushings, and the manufacturer is cooperating with regulators as investigators seek a cause and possible industry-wide changes.
