Golden Gate Toll Rises to $9.75–$10 as Transit Fares Climb

This installment in the five-year revenue strategy addresses a projected $220 million gap, boosting funding for bridge upkeep alongside preserved transit service.

Overview

  • Standard tolls will jump 50 cents to $9.75 for FasTrak and $10 for Pay-As-You-Go drivers starting July 1, 2025.
  • Fares on Caltrain, AC Transit, Muni and San Francisco Bay Ferry will rise by 10 to 25 cents per ride under the coordinated increase.
  • These hikes through 2028 follow a board-approved plan to close a pandemic-era, $220 million shortfall.
  • Toll revenue remains the district’s sole funding source since it receives no dedicated state or local taxes.
  • Discount programs for seniors, youths, riders with disabilities and low-income Clipper START participants will be maintained.
