Godzilla Minus One Receives Critical Acclaim, Director Eyes Sequel

The film, currently only available in cinemas, is set to have a black-and-white version released in Japan in January 2024.

  • Godzilla Minus One, described as one of the best kaiju movies ever made, is currently not available on streaming platforms and can only be watched in cinemas. The film has been released in different regions on different dates, with the US and Canada debut set for December 1.
  • The film has received critical acclaim, holding a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and has been praised by filmmaker Gareth Edwards, who directed Warner Bros.’s 2014 Godzilla flick, as a candidate for the best Godzilla movie of all time.
  • Godzilla Minus One initially had a limited release but extended its theatrical run in the second week. It's expected to continue playing until the last week of December in limited theaters.
  • Director Takashi Yamazaki has expressed interest in making a sequel with some returning characters from the 2023 film.
  • A black-and-white version of the film, Godzilla Minus One/C, will debut in Japan on January 12, 2024.
