Godavari Recedes Below Second Warning at Bhadrachalam as Telangana Flood Pressure Eases

Overview

  • Officials withdrew the second flood warning at Bhadrachalam at 9 a.m. Friday, with the Godavari dipping below 48 feet and expected to fall further over the next 12 hours.
  • State data showed a broad decline in inflows across Telangana over the past day, even as Medigadda kept all 85 gates open with equal inflow and outflow of 6,21,840 cusecs.
  • At Srisailam on the Krishna, inflows were about 5.4 lakh cusecs and releases 5.19 lakh cusecs, while Prakasam Barrage remained at first warning with roughly 5.14 lakh cusecs let downstream.
  • Four NDRF and eight SDRF teams were deployed for relief operations and the government sanctioned Rs 16 crore for rescue and assistance.
  • Karnataka cautioned farmers and fishermen after releases from Maharashtra crossed 2.5 lakh cusecs, submerging several bridge-cum-barrages in Belagavi and Bagalkot.
