Overview
- Three minor girls aged 11, 13 and 15 were lured to a Calangute beach hotel on June 7 after receiving party invitations and were reported missing the next day
- Police rescued the girls on June 8 and arrested two friends, 19-year-old Altaf Mujawar and 21-year-old Om Naik, at the scene
- Authorities also arrested hotel owner Rajat Chavan over questions about admitting minors without parental consent
- The accused and the owner have been charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, POCSO Act and Goa Children’s Act for rape, abduction and related offences
- Investigators have moved to seal the property with an accompanying license revocation and warned that any establishment admitting minors without parental consent will face action
