• Ad-hoc civil judge (senior division) Anuradha Andrade ordered Singh and anyone acting through him not to make public statements maligning Sulakshana Sawant until the suit is decided on merits.
• The order extends to social media, barring similar statements on platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
• Singh had previously given the court an undertaking that he would refrain from further statements on the matter.
• His counsel, Surel Tilve, said they will study the order before deciding whether to file an appeal.
• Sawant’s suit follows Singh’s December 4 press conference alleging a cash-for-jobs scheme in Goa and naming the chief minister’s wife and others.
