Overview
- GMRL has submitted a concept to HMRTC and the project’s design consultant to stack the Sector 56–Pachgaon metro and an elevated road between Ghata Chowk and Vatika Chowk on shared piers.
- Under the proposal, one deck would carry the metro and the other an elevated roadway, using common foundations to cut costs and conserve right of way.
- HMRTC is examining the double-decker option and has sought a technical study from RITES to assess feasibility on the overlap stretch, according to new reporting.
- GMRL has urged preparation of a single, comprehensive DPR that incorporates the elevated road’s design, alignment, structural systems and cost for an integrated build.
