GMC Hospitals in Srinagar and Anantnag Order Locker Labeling by Nov. 14 With Inspections and Penalties

The directive follows the arrest of Adil Ahmed after arms were recovered from a locker at GMC Anantnag.

Overview

  • An official circular from the Administrator of Associated Hospitals, GMC Srinagar, instructs all faculty, staff, and students to label lockers with their name, designation, and code by November 14.
  • After the deadline, the SMHS medical superintendent, RMOs, and estates officers will inspect facilities to identify and remove unclaimed or surplus lockers.
  • Employees who do not comply will forfeit claims to unlabelled lockers, and LPC, NOC, or service books will be withheld until lockers are properly handed over.
  • GMC Anantnag issued a parallel order directing HODs to mark allotted lockers or almirahs and report any units that are not owned by identified staff.
  • Police identified the doctor linked to the discovery as Adil Ahmed of Anantnag, taken into custody by Srinagar police on November 6 over alleged support for Jaish-e-Mohammed, with arms and ammunition reported recovered on November 8.
