Overview

  • GMARS achieved its first live firing at White Sands Missile Range, launching a GMLRS rocket that struck its target at 140 km and validating precision, fire-control and rapid-deployment capabilities integrated with NATO networks.
  • Lockheed Martin and Rheinmetall built the system on the high-mobility HX chassis, equipping it with a two-pod launcher that can carry GMLRS, PrSM and ATACMS rounds to broaden munitions versatility.
  • Following the successful test, GMARS has entered qualification trials with NATO partners to verify interoperability and operational readiness ahead of deployment.
  • Production lines are being expanded to deliver the first GMARS units to frontline forces by early 2026 under Europe’s effort to strengthen its own long-range firepower.
  • Developers are planning future integration of extended-range ballistic missiles and loitering munitions into the launcher to enhance battlefield versatility.
