Overview

  • The first live-fire demonstrations on August 4–5 validated GMARS’s fire-control systems, rapid-deployment features and integration with NATO command networks.
  • The two-pod launcher carries two ATACMS, four Precision Strike Missiles or up to 12 GMLRS rockets, doubling the payload capacity of existing HIMARS platforms.
  • Built on Rheinmetall’s HX wheeled chassis, GMARS offers high mobility, lower maintenance demands and compatibility with NATO-standard logistics.
  • With live tests complete at European and U.S. ranges, the joint Lockheed MartinRheinmetall program has moved into the qualification phase ahead of full production.
  • Germany, France, Poland and Italy are lined up as early adopters as GMARS seeks to enhance Europe’s long-range precision fires and reduce reliance on U.S.-made systems.
