Overview

• Gmail for Android version 2025.08.11.x rolls out a redesign that places the inbox in a single rounded container and adds pill-like swipe animations for actions.
• Within emails, Gmail replaces outlined controls with solid buttons, and Reply and Forward use Dynamic Color to stand out on the bottom bar.
• Gmail’s Compose screen and the homescreen widget are not yet updated in this release.
• Google Messages brings Material 3 Expressive to the chat screen with a containerized thread view, phone and video shortcuts in the app bar, and a solid background replacing the bubbly wallpaper.
• The Messages composer now shows pill-shaped action buttons and an updated media picker with a morphing top button group and lowered search field, with the Camera shortcut noted as not yet launched.
