GM Revives 2027 Chevy Bolt Under $30,000, Sets Limited-Run Launch for Early 2026

Chevrolet targets the lowest-priced new EV with Kansas City production and initial LFP battery supply from China.

Overview

  • Launch Edition is priced at $29,990 with destination, with a later LT base trim at $28,995 and an RS around $32,000.
  • The updated model uses a 65 kWh LFP pack for an estimated 255 miles of range, supports 150 kW DC fast charging, and can recharge from 10% to 80% in about 26 minutes.
  • Native NACS enables direct access to Tesla Superchargers, and vehicle-to-home capability allows backup power when paired with GM’s Energy Home System.
  • Power comes from GM’s X76 front-drive unit shared with the Equinox EV, rated at about 210 hp, alongside an updated electrical architecture for full over-the-air support.
  • GM says the Bolt will be a limited-run model built at the Fairfax Assembly plant, with volumes and run length undisclosed and domestic LFP production planned to replace initial imports.
