Overview

  • GM Korea announced on May 28 that it will sell all nine of its directly operated after-sales service centers across South Korea.
  • The automaker also plans to dispose of underused facilities and properties at its Bupyeong plant without affecting ongoing production.
  • Employees at the divested service centers will be reassigned to other divisions while customer support shifts to 386 authorized partner locations.
  • The moves are designed to strengthen financial sustainability after U.S. tariffs cut exports to America, which account for about 85 percent of shipments.
  • GM Korea reaffirmed its commitment to operate under its agreement with the government through at least the end of 2027.
