Overview

  • A rotating team of about 40 GM engineers drove a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Work Truck 1,059.2 miles on one charge over seven days around Milford Proving Ground and Detroit’s Belle Isle.
  • The 1,059.2-mile result more than doubled the truck’s 493-mile EPA estimate and eclipsed the previous unofficial record of 749 miles set by a Lucid Air Grand Touring.
  • Chevrolet confirmed no hardware or software changes were made beyond owner-accessible tweaks such as maximum tire inflation, spare-tire removal, lowered wiper blades, added tonneau cover and optimized wheel alignment.
  • Drivers maintained 20–25 mph when possible, turned off climate control and minimized weight to extract maximum efficiency under summer conditions.
  • The data remain unverified by independent bodies and GM has no plans to submit the run to Guinness World Records, keeping it as an internal benchmark.
