Overview
- General Motors unveiled the new in-vehicle user interface for the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, and said the system will ship on new 2027 trucks later this year.
- The infotainment and driver-display software runs on Android Automotive OS and is built as a single, scalable foundation meant to work across electric, gas, and diesel vehicles and receive over-the-air updates.
- Phone projection will return in a picture-in-picture or window-in-window mode so Apple CarPlay and Android Auto occupy part of the screen while native GM apps and controls remain visible.
- The trucks add truck-specific tools and safety-focused visuals, including trailer-aware navigation, a polarized passenger streaming screen, larger tap targets, preserved physical HVAC controls, and a 3D Super Cruise view that GM says supports hands-free trailering.
- GM will limit the first release to new 2027 Silverado and Sierra models while excluding existing owners, and the company has not committed to backporting the windowed projection or extending it to EVs which were stripped of projection in 2023.
