Gloucestershire Will Compete as 'Bristol' in T20 Blast From 2027

The club says the change is designed to lift falling T20 ticket income by courting Bristol city and student audiences and will be followed by a full branding rollout with the 2027 fixtures release.

Overview

  • The club announced on Thursday, November 5, 2026, that its T20 Blast teams will play under the name Bristol from the 2027 season after board approval and briefings to members.
  • Gloucestershire says the move seeks new spectators because T20 ticket revenue fell about 21% in 2026 and the Blast accounts for roughly one fifth of the club's ticket income.
  • The rebrand will apply to both the men's and women's T20 sides and the club plans to unveil the name, kit and logo when the 2027 domestic fixtures are published on 24 November.
  • Some long-standing members have strongly objected, saying the change risks alienating county supporters, and the club has held and scheduled members' meetings to explain its plans.
  • The club is also exploring a possible move to a purpose-built ground on Bristol's outskirts but access and infrastructure challenges remain and the plan will be part of the wider commercial strategy.
