Glossop and Stalybridge Lines to Join Greater Manchester’s Bee Network in December 2026

A phased rollout will introduce tap‑in fare capping, with expansion to 64 stations by 2028 under devolved funding.

Overview

  • The first phase brings contactless tap‑in, tap‑out ticketing with capped fares across trains, buses and trams on 17 stations linked to the Glossop and Stalybridge routes.
  • Transport for Greater Manchester plans further integration in 2027, including more and later services on lines to Manchester Airport, Alderley Edge and Rochdale.
  • By January 2028 eight rail lines covering 64 stations are expected to be inside the Bee Network, with a goal to include all Greater Manchester stations by 2030.
  • Immediate passenger benefits include cross‑mode ticket acceptance during disruption and forthcoming real‑time rail information in Bee Network digital tools.
  • Station upgrades are underway, with step‑free access work at Bryn and improvements planned at Hindley, Reddish North and Swinton, alongside customer information enhancements at Piccadilly and Victoria.
