Global Citizen Partners with Kendrick Lamar's PgLang for Move Afrika: A New African Music Touring Circuit Starting in Rwanda

Move Afrika aims to generate opportunities for job creation and entrepreneurship for Africa's youth through an annual series of concerts, with rapper Kendrick Lamar headlining the first event in Kigali, Rwanda on December 6, 2023.

  • Global Citizen partners with Kendrick Lamar's company, pgLang, to launch Move Afrika: A Global Citizen Experience, an international music touring circuit throughout Africa, with the first concert slated for December 6, 2023, in Kigali, Rwanda where Kendrick Lamar will perform.
  • Move Afrika aims to create job and entrepreneurship opportunities for Africa's youth through an annual series of concerts and events. These events aim to engage local artists, vendors, agencies, and crews, and offer on-the-job skills development.
  • In partnership with the Rwanda Development Board, the event will be held in Kigali annually for the next five years, with pgLang curating the event till 2028. The goal is to inspire local communities across Africa and around the world.
  • The concert series will address major issues across the continent through a citizen-led advocacy campaign, pressing for increased funding for healthcare (with an emphasis on women and girls), addressing the climate crisis and its impact on food security, and encouraging civic participation.
