Global Billionaire Wealth Surges 121% Over the Past Decade

A UBS report highlights rapid growth in tech-driven fortunes and regional disparities in billionaire wealth accumulation since 2015.

The cumulative wealth of billionaires worldwide grew from $6.3 trillion in 2015 to $14 trillion in 2024, outpacing global stock market growth, which rose by 73% over the same period.
The number of billionaires increased from 1,757 in 2015 to 2,682 in 2024, with the peak of 2,686 reached in 2021 and remaining stable since then.
North American billionaires saw the most consistent growth, with their combined wealth rising by 58.5% from 2020 to 2024, reaching $6.1 trillion.
Tech-sector billionaires experienced the fastest wealth growth, tripling their fortunes to $2.4 trillion, while industrial fortunes also grew substantially, reaching $1.3 trillion.
The real estate sector underperformed due to factors like China's property market correction, pandemic-related disruptions in commercial real estate, and higher interest rates in the U.S. and Europe.
