• Cook County officials identified the victim as Danielle V. Weisman, 48, of Glencoe.
• Authorities say the collision occurred around 9:35 a.m. Saturday at the Maple Hill Road crossing on Metra’s Union Pacific North line near Green Bay and Maple Hill roads.
• According to a Metra spokeswoman, the engineer sounded the horn, the gates and lights were functioning, and officers at the scene reported Weisman was wearing earbuds; officials described the findings as preliminary.
• A dog was also found dead on the tracks and another dog was unhurt, officials said.
• Train service on the UP North line was halted for about two hours, and Metra Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner are continuing the investigation.
