Gladiators Returns for Series 3 on BBC as New Event ‘Destruction’ Debuts and ‘Everest’ Is Teed Up

Producers push spectacle with new challenges following a spate of Gladiator injuries.

Overview

  • The third series premiered on Saturday, January 17 at 5:45pm on BBC One and iPlayer, with Bradley and Barney Walsh returning as hosts.
  • Destruction, the first of three new events, launched in the opener, sending players down lanes of four 8ft barriers to smash through before hitting a final button.
  • Everest is scheduled for next Saturday, January 24, featuring a Gladiator and contender on a 21ft-high tilting platform separated by a heavy barrier as they try to force each other off.
  • Four Gladiators disclosed serious injuries from summer 2025 filming at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena: Legend (torn arm tendon), Bionic (shoulder surgery), Diamond (ACL/MCL rupture) and Athena (extensive knee damage including a complete ACL tear).
  • The series features nine male and nine female returning Gladiators with former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg overseeing rules, and episodes continue weekly on BBC One and iPlayer.
