Overview
- Girona defeated Albacete 2-0 at Montilivi on Friday, with Abel Ruiz scoring in the sixth minute and Donny van de Beek adding a second just before half-time.
- The result moved Girona provisionally into third place with 13 points while Albacete remained winless with one point and inside the relegation zone.
- Both squads were depleted by availability issues: Girona missed several internationals including Vladyslav Vanat and Yáser Asprilla and had injured players such as Bryan Gil and Jastin, and Albacete's long casualty list included Munir El Haddadi, Samuel Obeng, Pepe Sánchez and Jesús Vallejo.
- The victory was Girona’s second in a row and their fourth in five league games, a run that reinforces their bid for direct promotion and benefits returning players such as Abel Ruiz.
- The match was shown on LALIGA TV Hypermotion, Movistar Plus+ and DAZN, and the outcome increases pressure on Albacete to find immediate solutions to its injuries if it is to avoid dropping further toward relegation.
