Giro d’Italia 2025 to Begin in Albania for the First Time

The iconic cycling race will feature three opening stages in Albania, marking a historic first for the event, before returning to Italy.

The 2025 Giro d’Italia will start in Albania from May 9-11, marking the first time the race begins in the country.
The first stage will run 164 kilometers from the port city of Durrës to the capital, Tirana, along a hilly route.
Stage 2 will feature a 13.7-kilometer individual time trial in Tirana, while Stage 3 will cover 160 kilometers around Vlorë, including a challenging climb at Llogara Pass.
The race will resume in Italy on May 13 after a rest day, with the full route set to be announced in January.
Organizers and Albanian officials highlighted the event as an opportunity to showcase Albania’s landscape and strengthen cultural ties with Italy.
