Giorgio Chiellini, the Italian defender, has announced his retirement from professional soccer at the age of 39, after a 22-year career.
Chiellini spent 17 years at Juventus, where he won nine consecutive Serie A titles and was named the Italian league’s top defender three times.
In the last 1 1/2 seasons, he played a major role at Los Angeles FC, which won the MLS Cup title and Supporters’ Shield in 2022.
Chiellini is considering a new career in coaching or management, and has expressed interest in sports business, particularly from the American perspective.
He has a bachelor’s in economics and commerce and a master’s in business administration, both from the University of Turin.
