• The Armani Group said the designer died peacefully surrounded by loved ones and announced a public viewing in Milan on Sept. 6–7 at Via Bergognone 59 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a private funeral to follow.
• No cause of death was disclosed; in recent months he was hospitalized and missed his June menswear show in Milan and his July Armani Privé show in Paris after planning a September return.
• Armani had outlined a progressive transfer of responsibilities to trusted insiders, including menswear chief Leo Dell'Orco and relatives Roberta and Silvana Armani and Andrea Camerana, with a stated priority of maintaining independence and protecting employees.
• Tributes poured in from political and fashion leaders and film stars, including Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Donatella Versace, Julia Roberts and Cate Blanchett, while Milan’s mayor declared a day of mourning on Monday.
• Over five decades, Armani transformed modern tailoring with softer, deconstructed suits and Hollywood visibility such as American Gigolo, building a privately held empire with about 8,700 employees and more than 2,000 stores.
