Gilroy Murder-Suicide Confirmed After 8-Hour Standoff, Sheriff Says

  • Witnesses told deputies a family member shot a 68-year-old man, who was pronounced dead at 4:17 p.m.
  • Nearby residences were evacuated as tactical teams tried for more than eight hours to contact the suspect.
  • Deputies later located the suspect in the garage with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
