Gilgo Beach Serial Killer Suspect Charged with Seventh Murder
Rex Heuermann, a former architect, faces new charges in the 2000 killing of Valerie Mack, linked through DNA evidence and other findings.
- Rex Heuermann, already accused in six murders, was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Valerie Mack, whose remains were discovered in 2000 and 2011.
- Investigators connected Heuermann to Mack's death using DNA evidence, including hair linked to his wife and daughter, and digital evidence from his home.
- Mack, a 24-year-old escort from New Jersey, was last seen in 2000; her torso was found in Manorville, and additional remains were discovered near Gilgo Beach over a decade later.
- Prosecutors revealed that Heuermann kept disturbing materials, including violent pornography and documents referencing crime scenes, as well as mementos from past cases.
- Heuermann has pleaded not guilty to all charges and remains in custody without bail as investigations into other unsolved Long Island killings continue.
