Gilgo Beach Killings Suspect to Face Fourth Murder Charge

Rex Heuermann, already charged with three murders, is expected to be charged with the murder of Maureen Brainard-Barnes, completing the 'Gilgo Four'.

Rex Heuermann, the prime suspect in the Gilgo Beach killings, is expected to be charged with a fourth murder, that of Maureen Brainard-Barnes.
Heuermann, a 60-year-old former architect, has already been charged with the murders of Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, and Amber Lynn Costello, all found near Gilgo Beach.
Heuermann was linked to the murders through DNA evidence obtained from a discarded pizza slice and his wife's hair found at the crime scenes.
Heuermann has pleaded not guilty to the three charges of first-degree murder and three charges of second-degree murder in the killings of Barthelemy, Waterman, and Costello.
The remains of all four women, known as the 'Gilgo Four', were discovered in December 2010 when authorities were searching for another missing sex worker, Shannan Gilbert.
