Gibson Taps NISMO, Xtrac and Bosch for 2028 LMP2 Turbo V6
The consortium seeks to deliver a cost-controlled, reliable drivetrain ready for global customer service under the new rules.
Overview
- Gibson Technology confirmed on August 6 that it will supply the unified LMP2 powertrain for the 2028–2032 cycle after winning an FIA/ACO tender.
- NISMO will partner on a bespoke 3.4-litre twin-turbo V6 engine with direct fuel injection, marking its first LMP2 involvement since 2016.
- Xtrac is set to develop a new transverse gearbox complete with bellhousing and gearshift system to standardize transmission across the class.
- Bosch Motorsport will provide the electronics architecture, including the ECU, powerbox, wiring harness and a MoTeC-designed steering wheel.
- The package is engineered to meet a 420 kW output cap and to balance performance, reliability and cost control for customer teams.
