Giants Sign Tsutsugo and Jefferies to Minor League Contracts

Both players will join the San Francisco team, with Tsutsugo receiving an invitation to spring training and Jefferies continuing his recovery from surgery in the Bay Area.

  • Japanese first baseman and outfielder Yoshitomo Tsutsugo has agreed to a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants, including an invitation to spring training.
  • Tsutsugo, who last appeared in the majors for Pittsburgh in 2022, played in the Giants' farm system this year and re-signed as a free agent.
  • Right-hander Daulton Jefferies also signed a minor league deal with the Giants and will remain in the Bay Area as he recovers from a second Tommy John surgery.
  • Jefferies, a former Oakland pitcher, has resumed throwing off a mound and completed five bullpen sessions.
  • Both signings were confirmed by Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi.
