Giants Rookie Cam Skattebo Cleared to Return to Practice After Hamstring Setback

Coach Brian Daboll said the fourth-round pick will be a limited participant as he resumes work following a hamstring issue.

Overview

  • Skattebo returned to practice on Tuesday after missing much of camp and the first two preseason games with a hamstring injury, according to Brian Daboll.
  • His first session back is expected to be limited, marking his initial on-field work since the setback noted by the coach earlier this month as “day-by-day” with “a little bit of a setback.”
  • ESPN’s Jordan Raanan had reported that Skattebo was probably not going to be ready for Week 1 and had not been seen working on the side at recent practices.
  • The timing comes ahead of Thursday’s preseason finale against the Patriots and roster cutdowns on Aug. 26, a juncture that had raised outside concern about a possible short-term IR move.
  • The Giants have depth at running back with Tyrone Tracy Jr. atop the depth chart, veteran Devin Singletary behind him, and Dante Miller pushing for a roster spot.
